Why now
Discovery just got cheaper. Access has not.
For most of the last century, finding a new medicine meant screening compounds one at a time, for a decade, at a cost measured in billions. Machine learning over public biological data has begun to collapse the first years of that path to months. A small, focused team can now prioritize targets that once required a pharmaceutical division.
What has not changed is who benefits. The economics of drug development still favor treatments taken forever over prevention taken once, and prices set for the few over access for the many. WPPF exists to use the new efficiency for the old, unmet goal: medicine that lasts, for everyone.
We start with allergic and atopic disease, allergies and eczema, because it is common, chronic, under-researched relative to its burden, and rich in public data. It is the place where a youth-founded foundation can make a real contribution first.
